Stream labels and lower thirds that read on phone
Design Twitch and Kick labels and lower thirds that stay sharp on mobile without covering gameplay.
Labels and lower thirds name the moment: guest, topic, sponsor, or status. They should read in one glance on a phone. If they need a pause to decode, they are too busy.
Keep them on-brand with the rest of the pack. Same type family, same accent color, same corner logic as your alerts.
1. Copy rules
- One primary line under ~28 characters.
- Optional second line for role or handle only.
- No paragraphs. No joke sentences that wrap three times.
2. Size and contrast
On 1920×1080, primary type should still feel bold when the player is phone-width. Dark ink on a light plate or light type on a dark plate. Mid-gray on busy game footage fails.
- Prefer solid plates or soft bars behind text.
- Skip thin outlines as your only contrast fix.
- Keep stroke weight matched to the webcam frame.
3. Placement
- Lower third: bottom third, clear of facecam and chat.
- Status labels (LIVE, topic): top edge inside safe area.
- Never stack a label on the alert corner.
- Animate in/out in under 0.5s. Hold long enough to read once.
4. File hygiene
Export transparent PNGs or WebMs with empty safe margins. Name files by use: lower-third-guest, label-topic. Free Audit helps if your current labels vanish on mobile VODs.
If you cannot read the name at 25% zoom, enlarge type or cut words.
